Wow, we’re actually eating lunch outside today and it feels wonderful. The temperatures have been all over the place here but today it’s warm and not too windy so we decided to eat on the porch. Welcome, Friends, to a simple (very) outdoor luncheon for two. I can’t believe that three days ago we were up at the Biltmore Estate and it was snowing. Spring is definitely a time of changeable weather.

I put together a centerpiece of Snowball Viburnum in a simple white basket to anchor the table. You can see in the background that the garden is coming to life and flowers are beginning to bloom. I love this time of year. It’s a true affirmation of living things. Snowballs are big and beautiful and go from lime green to purest white as they mature. I love how they fill up a vase and really create a statement. This arrangement sits beside a colorful trencher of Sushi that we had for lunch today.

The table was set with bright placemats in cinnabar with matching napkins. The placemats and napkins are covered with flowers and greenery…..lots of color and texture. I did just a simple triangular fold for this informal luncheon setting. I used a Mikasa salad fork as I couldn’t find my chopsticks. LOL

A “Park Lane” water goblet by Mikasa sits next to the exuberant plates in the same cinnabar and green colors as the placemat and napkin. The fruits look good enough to eat.

Individual packets of Soy Sauce are available to add to the Sushi. The fountain was turned on for the first time this year and so we ate to the sound of flowing water and whispering breezes. Everything on the table was thrifted. I love when all these separate items come together to form a pleasing whole. Hope you have a chance to enjoy some nice outdoor weather soon.
