A Little Bit of France….. Tablescape

French color combinations can be so vivid and beautiful. I happened to have a yellow and blue French provencal tablecloth and recently found some amazing dishes from Fitz & Floyd and Limoges china that would go perfectly with the tablecloth. Welcome, Friends, to today’s Blog highlighting the wonderful color combinations of France.

The inspiration for this table setting springs from the tablecloth in its deep yellows, purples and blues with green accents. It is such a happy tablecloth and invites you to gather and have a wonderful meal.

Pottery Barn embroidered, yellow napkins were added to the setting and placed between the dinner plate and the salad/dessert plate so the colors of each plate could easily be seen.

I started the plate stack with this intricately patterned rattan charger. It has a country vibe to it and is quite interesting all on its own.

The plate stack is yellows and blues all the way. Love how the different blues blend with the table cloth. They are in the same color family but are different shades. Mixing and matching is such fun.

Here’s a closer look at this pretty, simple, plate stack. The rattan charger is followed by the Fitz & Floyd, Coq Du Village. Then the wonderful dessert/salad plates by Limoges depicting a peacock roosting in a tree come next. Just love all the blue.

Continuing the theme…..I chose two different glasses in blue. One is quite intense and bubbled, I don’t know the maker for that one, and the second is by Block and has a beautiful light blue stem. The crystal glasses have the same shaped bowls and go quite nicely together.

Rogers Bros. silver-plate in the Jubilee pattern serves as the flatware. This is one of my favorite patterns with its beautiful raised flowers on the handles of the flatware.

This picture shows the intensity of color in the napkin and how it acts almost like another plate to separate the two intensely blue plates in this setting.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a yellow and blue pitcher so used this recently found Butterfly Meadow pitcher by Lenox. It has some great blues in the design and some beautiful butterflies. Love the butterfly resting on the handle of the pitcher. Freshly picked daffodils from the garden fill the pitcher and add to the yellows in the rest of the table setting. The pitcher sits on a blue peacock plate.

The overhead shot gives a nice view of the whole table.

Looking across from one table setting to the next you can see all the wonderfully intense yellows and blues.
