January is often a slower month for finding Thrift Store treasures in my area. I think people are still recovering from the holidays and the weather isn’t as nice for getting out and about. Whatever the reason, there are still great things to be found even if you have to dig a little deeper. Welcome to the blog today, Friends, for a little Thrift Store hunting.
I have two pictures today showing collected treasures. It makes things a little easier to see. What I found this week was mostly for the table.
Two silver pieces jumped out at me and ended up in my cart. The first was this wonderful footed, rectangular serving tray. It’s very large and heavy and required almost no polishing. It’s nice to find things that don’t need a lot of attention before they can be used.
The next piece was this very badly tarnished tray that I will use as a charger. It had an interesting edge and some nice scroll work on the base but needed some help. The last picture shows how it came back to a beautiful silvery shine. It will be a pleasure to use this now.
Chargers are always on my Thrift Store list and these were beautiful. They are Ginko from Pier 1. They are a round within a square with an Asian look to the flowers. the colors are in two shades of blue. Really liked these.
I found some great linens this week. Beginning in the upper left corner are some hard placemats that were in excellent condition with a nice sentiment on the mat. Liked the colors and the size is perfect. The next picture shows a paisley tablecloth in blue and white. The picture actually came out a bit dark, the blue is lighter than shown. I’ll be using this soon for a table setting. An embroidered white linen runner came next. It is quite pretty and simple with it’s white on white flowers and scalloped edge. Blue and white napkins were a great find. They are a heavy cotton and were only $1.50 for 9 of them. Finally some damask Christmas napkins with a pinecone design in muted earth tones. All the above were purchased for about $8.00. Not too shabby.
Found this great Fall sign for next October. I like to incorporate this type of art work in a display wall around that time of year. Easter is coming up and this seemed like such a happy sign even though the colors are a simple blue and white. The sign is actually the same color as the tablecloth it sits on but photographed darker. The last piece is an old etching of workers planting rice. You can see more detail in this Blog…..
