Black and White…..New York Tablescape

Welcome to the blog today, Friends, for a little black and white table setting with a hint of New York. After all the color during the holiday season it’s nice to go back to basics for a Winter tablescape. A monochromatic look is restful but can also have a big visual impact.

I started this table with a simple white and black color scheme. These cute little black and white houses and a church are perfect for lighting up the evening. I wanted to raise them up a bit from the table so placed them on these white square bowls. I added a frosted living tree in the backdrop to give it more of a town-like look. I love the cheery light coming through the windows brightening up the Winter landscape.

These great chargers depicting the New York Skyline are from Fishes Eddy, an iconic New York restaurant. They go so well with the little houses.

The plate stack begins with the charger and then a simple Wedgewood plate with an interesting rim. A Lenox plate with a black and gold border completes the stack. The rims are all different and interesting on their own and together offer an eclectic presentation tied together by the black and white theme.

Black and white napkins held in a silver napkin ring complete the stack.

Cut glass water goblets and wine glasses add some elegance to the table. They are intricately carved and sparkle in the light.

The silver-plate fan design of the flatware seemed just the right touch to the table setting. It’s one of my favorite patterns.

Looking across the table you can see out the window. We have been having such warm weather that the plants think it’s time to start sprouting leaves.

In the other direction the theme is continued with the trees and background pieces. I like the black and white look. It’s also very easy to put together in a short time. So, if you’re having a dinner party for two or more than two, consider black and white as an option. You really can’t go wrong. As usual, everything was thrifted.
