Holiday gatherings…..small or large…..deserve a little extra fussing to make them special. Welcome, Friends, to a quick and colorful table setting for the holidays.

The table setting begins with a beautiful floral centerpiece in a basket. It is set in the center of the table on a red table runner. The table runner is placed on top of a checked red and black tablecloth.

The centerpiece is constructed of greens, a few flowers and Christmas picks and a pretty flowered bow attached to the handle of the basket.

I used a wooden charger with flowers and leaves outlined in white dots. Tableware by Longeberger is used for the dinner plate and for the salad/dessert plate. A Portuguese bowl in solid red sits ready for a serving of Red Pepper and Squash Soup.

Here’s a closer look at the dishes and charger. It goes well with the plaid tablecloth with the solid red runner to tie things together.

Waterford water and wine goblets add a touch of elegance to the table. The Waterford goblets are weighty and hold a large or small amount. Both look great in the glasses.

Mikasa stainless steel flatware is simple and bright on the table. I like the sleek styling of the flatware . It gives the eye a rest from the patterns in the rest of the setting.

Here’s an overhead view of a single place setting. You can see how the more elaborate pattern of the crystal contrasts with the simple design of the flatware.

A simple red napkin in a jewel-toned napkin ring with a bright star sits next to the fork.

Here you can look across the table to see the centerpiece and another table setting. This is a great mid-week tablescape for a simple family meal during the holidays. It’s enjoyable to create a special dining experience for Family and Friends whether there are two of you or more without going to a lot of fuss.

As usual, most everything on the table was thrifted.
