A meal at the kitchen counter is something lots of us do everyday. Often it’s a placemat, some plates, glasses and flatware with paper napkins while watching TV. There’s a better way that elevates kitchen counter dining to a bit higher level.

Pretty glasses, gleaming flatware, a charger and some interesting plates are easy additions to the meal. Throw in some pretty napkins and some flowers and you have a lovely, simple setting.

This casual place setting starts with a black and white checked charger from Hobby Lobby.

Three different plates make up the stack. I started with a white Villeroy & Bosch dinner plate. Then I added a salad/dessert plate that originated in Italy and represents the Cinque Terre. Plates for two of the towns in pretty blues and browns with the name of the town on the rim were added to the stack. Finally, a second Villeroy & Bosch plate in the Wave pattern completes the stack. The white plates work well with the charger.

The napkins are in several shades of blue with white trim. Mikasa stainless flatware is a great accompaniment to a casual dinner.

You can see how the napkins pick up the blue in the plates.

Blue water goblets also reflect the blue in the napkins and in the salad plates. The wine goblets are Waterford and are a nice partner for the blue water goblets.

This is an overhead of the casual countertop setting with a beautiful flora centerpiece.

You can see more flowers in the background. Flowers always make a space special……they really brighten up the setting.

The place setting took just a few minutes to put together and we will have a beautiful area to enjoy our evening meal. Take a few extra minutes and make your evening meal shine. Everything in this table setting was thrifted.
