Last week, while out thrifting, I found this wonderful set of Johnson Bros. dishes. They are a modern offering from the company so microwave and dishwasher safe. They have that “cottage” feel that is so appealing in Johnson Bros. selections. Welcome to the Blog today, Friends, for a table setting using these pretty thrifted dishes.

I started this table setting with the centerpiece made of some beautiful flowers. There are some gorgeous yellow roses, berries, mums and carnations with some pretty green foliage in a clear glass vase.
The flowers were placed on a damask tablecloth that matched the center off-white color of the plates. There’s a subtle design of leaves and flowers on the tablecloth that adds some texture to the setting.
The plates are very pretty with their flower-edged rims and white interiors. Pinks, blues and greens are the dominant colors but the green is more of a blue-green shade that softens the look of the dishes.
That unusual green is matched in the green of the chargers which also have the same type of flower around the rim. They work well together with similar flowers in the tablecloth.
I chose blue crystal goblets to pick-up the blue in the plates. In the picture above you can see the little blue flower on the dessert/salad plate that matches the blue in the crystal. The light blue goblet is by Block and the more intense blue goblet is Fizz Slate by Artland Glass. It’s a nice heavy glass and I love the bubble effect. They have the glass in several colors.
You see more blues in the napkin choice along with some stripes of gold. The napkin ring is hand-blown, Art Deco style glass that adds some subtle interest to the table.
Bright Mikasa stainless steel flatware adds a casual air to the table setting while still managing to look elegant.
Seasonal color was added to the table by using beautiful fresh pears and apples at each place setting. The greens and reds tie in directly to the floral arrangement in the center of the table.
Here’s an overhead look at how all the colors come together.
It’s so nice to find a set of dishes that are in good condition, from an excellent maker and are complete place settings. I was able to find 6 place settings in this china. There is also a soup bowl that goes with the set but I didn’t use that today.
I try to check the “across the table” views when I set a table. You don’t want to have a guest staring at something unsightly for the whole dinner party. LOL
This picture ended up a bit dark because of all the light that was coming in through the window. It’s always a good idea to view your table setting as your guests would when they first come to the table.
This table setting is all thrifted items and came together nicely. It was fun to use my, new to me, dishes and add touches of blue with the crystal and napkins. Hope you find some wonderful treasures this week at the “Thrift Store”.
