Red, white and blue….its that time of year when picnics and gatherings revolve around patriotic celebrations. Welcome to the Blog today. I’ll be putting together a red white and blue table setting for you today.
I’ve been using a lot of flowers lately because they are abundant in the garden and always are a good choice for a centerpiece. However, for the setting today I wanted something different with some sparkle. I found these Mercury glass candlesticks this week at the thrift Store. They were really grimy but cleaned up really well. Love that they reflect the light. I coupled them with some beautiful hand-made beeswax candles.
The plate stack is made up of three different plates in red, white and blue….the colors of the day. A polish made plate in blue with white and red accents acts as the dinner plate. Next is a very simple round, red plate. It’s a really deep red and goes well with all the other primary colors. Finally, the stack is topped by a bread and butter plate in a pristine white with a silver edge running all around the outer rim of the plate. It picks up on the Mercury glass candlesticks in the center of the table.
The plate stack rests on a round white, woven place mat adding some texture to the place setting. I used four different textured hand towels in combinations of red and white to accent the place setting and serve as napkins.
Red is the base for the tablecloth but the red is complimented by white stitching which ties in with the white and red in the rest of the table setting. Love how the white is picked up by the place mat…..makes it more visible.
Red, hand-blown colonial style wine glasses are paired with gorgeous flared Noritake crystal glasses in the Rockport pattern. These glasses are quite substantial and add some weight to the table without looking too heavy.
Red, white and blue pinwheels tie all of the colors together and add a little fun to the table setting. July 4th is an important holiday for all Americans….a time to come together and celebrate the beginning of our great country.
Here’s the overhead view of the table. You can see that I kept the silverware simple with a bit of a flow. The pinwheels look a bit like flowers and tie in with the sparkly edge of the bread and butter and with the silver in the centerpiece.
