Welcome to everyone today. The sun is shining…the rain finally stopped for awhile. We will get to dry out for a few days. I’m looking forward to going out in the garden and seeing the progress. Plants are really starting to bloom and it put me in the mood to do a nice, light Spring table setting.
What can be more Spring-like than yellow, green and pink. I started this tablescape with one of my favorite yellow tablecloths picked up for about $2.25 at Miracle Hill Thrift Store. You always want to unfold the linens completely and check for any spots or snags. This one was in great condition and laundered beautifully.
Next I added the square green rattan place mat that will act as a kind of charger in this setting. The Villeroy and Boch plates were found this past Friday at a local thrift store. They are the “Wavy” pattern and one salad/dessert plate sells at Macy’s for $40+ . This came in a set of 8 dinner and 8 salad/dessert plates for less than half of that price. I was really thrilled with these dishes. We had some people over for dinner last night and they worked really well. You can place them vertically like in the picture above or horizontally for a different look. White dishes are always a good investment as they are very versatile. You can use them in combination with more colorful dishes or they can stand alone.
I found these beautiful napkins a while ago. They are striped on one side and flowered on the other. Using a napkin ring I was able to turn these into a beautiful flower bouquet for the table. It pulls in all the other colors used in this tablescape.
Holmes and Edwards silver-plate in the Jubilee Pattern is a recent find and brings another flower element to the table. When I find these sets of vintage silver-plate all tarnished and neglected, I am always delighted when they return to their former beauty with just a little silver polish. This set really gleams and looks so pretty.
The water and wine goblets are Opal Innocence by Lenox. I found a mismatched set of these several years ago at a local Thrift store. I usually pick up any brand name crystal that I run across and this started my quest to complete a set to use in my home. Once Ron knows I’m collecting something he goes on a mission to find and complete the set. He is really helpful when I’m searching for pieces to add. We’ve found the glasses little by little and now have a set for 8 in water, champagne, white and red wine glasses. They really do look beautiful on the table.
I wanted to keep the centerpiece simple and airy so used some Mikasa candlesticks I found a few years ago at Goodwill and a glass pitcher that was picked up when thrifting. I can’t remember from which store. The flowers are the remainder of my Easter table setting and have those lovely shades of pink. The pink candles continue that color scheme and were also Thrift Store finds from Miracle Hill. I pick up candles whenever I see them. They usually cost between 10 cents and 25 cents. I end up with a variety of colors and sizes that I can use throughout the year for a fraction of the cost of retail. I only buy ones that haven’t been used.
A simple, fresh, inexpensive table setting for Spring courtesy of the local Thrift Stores. Hope you have good luck this week on your thrifting adventures and share some of your finds with Friends and Family over a good meal. Have a great week!
