I thought it would be fun to put together the above table setting with only items found from this week’s thrifting. With the exception of the water glasses I was able to pull it together pretty well…..What do you think?
The table setting starts with a really pretty circular tablecloth with tulips and grey/green foliage. It is quite soft in tone and creates a really colorful background for everything else on the table. The silver-plate is by Holmes and Edwards and is their Lovely Lady pattern from 1937. This set included 72 pieces and is 12 five-piece place settings plus serving pieces. It was $20.00. I don’t like to pay quite that much but it was in such good condition and so many pieces I thought it was worth it. A little silver polish and it looks pretty good for being 80 years old.
The plate stack rests on the terra cotta chargers in silver from Pier 1. I really like using these heavier chargers. They have a more substantial feel to the table. They are a little more difficult to store but worth the effort.
I couldn’t believe my luck when I found the white Villeroy & Boch “Wavy Cafe” dishes. They had a set of 8 dinner plates and 8 salad plates for less than half the cost of one salad plate at Macy’s. I was dancing all through the store. There wasn’t a nick or scratch on any of the plates. I really liked the square shape and the wavy look of the plates with sharp and rounded corners on each plate.
The colorful dessert plate is also by Pier 1 and depicts very bold fruits. They came in a set of four. Loved the look and quickly picked them up. The plates pick up the colors in the tablecloth without being too “loud”.

The wine glass is for red wine and is by Waterford. I found these in a little out-of-the-way thrift shop for $2 a piece. A really nice find. It’s a lot of fun when you run across these great brands at Thrift Store prices.
Love this steel sculpture found this week at Miracle Hill Thrift Store. The tulips were not thrifted but aren’t they gorgeous?
This came together pretty easily with all the new (to me) thrifted items. It’s always a challenge to set a pretty table. Using thrifted items can make it fun and cost effective. It’s exciting when I have such a good thrifting week. Doesn’t happen every time so you just have to “keep on thrifting.”
