what I found thrifting this week. I promised a table setting using some of those items. Here it is. This table setting is 100% thrifted with the exception of the origami reindeer.
The centerpiece sits on a beautiful Rogers Silver tray that I found this week. A little silver polish and it is a beautiful base for the silver bowl containing some grocery store flowers. A peacock with a quizzical look perches atop the flowers admiring his beautiful tail as it drapes across the blooms. I love how the deep blues and greens stand out against the pinks and greens of the flowers.
Here’s a closer look. This peacock has attitude.
The beautiful placemats are a simple gray and white. The left hand side is embroidered in a lovely scroll work pattern and then horizontal white and gray lines extend toward the right. I fond them several years ago.
The patterned silver-plate was found at Goodwill. It came in a set of 8, 6-piece place settings with serving pieces.
The plate stack is a simple gray and white pattern with silver trim around the inner and outer rim of the plates. They go really well with the place mats and lend a serene look to the table. Found these this week and just knew they would compliment the place mats perfectly.
Standing on the bread and butter plate is an origami deer which pulls in the colors of the peacock perched above it. It adds a little whimsy to the table setting.
Napkins of striped white, dark and light gray are added to the table held by silver napkin rings in a baroque pattern that echoes the design in the silver tray.
Dark gray bowls with a cobalt blue inner porcelain add a further touch of blue to the table setting.
Lovely Parklane water and wine glasses by Mikasa reflect the light and provide a contrast to the simplicity of the plates.
I love how this tablescape came together. The new items I found this week fit in really well with things I had on hand. This “Table for Two”, a little on the romantic side, is just what we need to perk up a cold Winter Day.
