We were out yesterday doing some last minute gift shopping and, of course, had to run into a couple of thrift stores along the way. I was surprised to see that Christmas was already on sale. Typically that doesn’t happen until after December 25th but who am I to argue.
One of the first things we found was the Lenox Little Drummer Boy ornament for $3. I started a pile on the counter as most Christmas was 75% off.
Ron found this interesting little moose made out of forks and spoons for $1. Had to bring him home. He is really cute.
The next find was this really colorful drum ice bucket. It is made by Godinger and quite heavy. It cleaned up beautifully and looks brand new. $4.
A glass tree and a Santa candle found their way to the counter for $1 each. Pretty good. I have a small collection of glass trees so this fit right in. I try to pick up interesting candles, if they are in new condition. They can sell for $8 and up in a retail store.
This beautiful crystal wreath was found at the same store. I almost had a pair but another lady found the second one before I did. It worked perfectly to place around a flower arrangement for a special dinner. $7
This set of four pottery barn plates came in it’s own box and looked brand new. They are cocktail plates and each one has a different saying on the plate. Showed you a couple of them. I like that they are white and will go with everything. They are rimmed in black around the edge which is hard to see in the picture. $3.25
Next, at a second thrift shop, I found this set of 8 Pier 1 bowls rimmed in gold. They are in perfect condition and from the Mono Bangladesh collection. $5. I know they will go with so many of the plates I already have.
Then I found a set of 10 damask placemats from Spode with the famous Christmas Tree pattern. It came with 4 napkins so I will be on the look out for additional napkins. This was a really good find. $6.25. I was really excited. We spent around $30 yesterday and came home with some great things. Also found some Villeroy and Bosch (not shown) which was included in the $30.
Lastly, at an antique store that is closing (the owners are retiring) we found the last glass of the Waterford 12 Days of Christmas champagne flutes that I have been collecting. It was a great end to the day. This one is the 8 Maids a Milking flute that sells for close to $300 on eBay. We got a very good price and then they took more off so I was doing my Happy Dance.
You’ll be seeing some of these finds in future blogs but for now hope you are enjoying the holiday season and counting your many blessings as we do each day. Happy Holidays!
