Welcome everyone! Hope all your holiday preparations are going well as the countdown to Christmas continues. After yesterday’s rather formal table setting I thought it would be nice to go a little more casual in this woodsy tablescape.
It begins with a flannel throw bordered in faux fur. The deep reds and greens shout out Christmas and warm the heart. (Goodwill Thrift Store under $5.)
Next a hollowed out log acts as the focal point of the centerpiece. Filled with pine and berries and a few pine cones as well it reminds us of carefree walks in the woods as we take a little time away from frantic preparations. The red and green reflect the colors in the throw. The pine cones were picked up on a walk through the woods.
Each plate stack is different. The bottom plates are hand thrown pottery collected a plate at a time from thrift stores. The dinner plates are all different but evoke the casual feel of an afternoon in the woods. Next come Crate and Barrel plates of different sizes. The salad/dessert plate and the bread and butter plate have a crackle finish trimmed with red. The charger is a brown leather which is casual indeed. (All thrifted items.) A pine cone dusted with gold paint reminds us of beautiful pine forests and the delicious smell of pine that brings home the season.
Water and wine goblets are hand thrown pottery. Like all the other pieces they encourage you to relax and let down your guard as you enjoy friends and family over a great meal.
Homemade wooden trees anchor one end of the table while a reindeer adds a bit of whimsy at the other end. Pine cone candlesticks with dark green candles add to the forest feel of the table. Really love the wooden trees which live on the window ledges in the great room over the holidays. They had a change of scene today and look to be enjoying the new view.
This table has such a cozy feel. I enjoyed putting it together and will enjoy sharing it with family and friends. Hope you have a cozy dinner to share over the holiday season.
