In keeping with the Thrifting Wonderland theme, this first day of Christmas table setting is all about putting thrifted finds together to create simple place settings.

After traveling in Ireland for 2 12 months this Fall and then a couple of other trips when we returned to the States, my posting has gotten really behind. I’ll have a lot of posts about our trip in the coming weeks but for now I’m concentrating on the holidays just like you.

As we begin this new festive season I wanted to simplify things just a bit. I’ve used white, fringed place mats with a silver charger from Italy as the base to this setting. On the chargers I placed some plates with an interesting raised rim (from Portugal) and added my festive bird plates to pull in the red and green colors. The red water and wine goblets were found at different times at different thrift stores but come together for this festive setting. Add red napkins and you are all set for your first dinner of the holiday season.

For the centerpiece start with a simple glass Christmas tree (you’ll find lots of these in thrift stores).

Fill them with glittered pine cones and silver, gold, and red ornaments for a festive look.

Add these ornament Christmas trees to your table and you have your first dinner celebration of the season ready to go.

Happy Holidays!

(Thrifted items included: place mats; napkins; chargers; white plates; bird plates; red goblets; and, glass trees.

Christmas tree in the background and the mercury candlesticks were also found at thrift stores.)
